A visit to the "Jewel of the California Missions"

The reason the Mission is called the "Jewel of the California Missions" is because of its spectacular beauty! Originally built as a self sufficient community by Spanish Padres and Indians, the Mission was a center for agriculture, industry, education, and religion. Visit the Serra Chapel, Padres Quarters, Industrial Area, Soldiers Barracks, Cemetery, and the Church. 10 acres of lush gardens and cool fountains, cloistered by old adobe walls, offers visitors respite from the sights and sounds of a busy world.

The Mission is also famous for its swallows, who fly south every year on October 23 and return on March 19. Legend says the swallows took up residence here to escape an innkeeper who kept destroying their nests. The swallows arrive in groups and make their nests from mud and saliva, building them under the eaves of the buildings.

Come join us for a private tour at one of California's most famous Missions including a delicious lunch at the Adobe Restaurant, built in 1797!
