Joshua Tree Adventure Tour - Cryptic Coloration!

Many animals match their environment in color and/or pattern. This helps them escape predators (or hunt more efficiently) by being hard to spot. This type of coloration is called camouflaged or cryptic coloration. Many animals that live in the desert are sand-colored like the coyote in the photo below. The photo was taken on our Joshua Tree Adventure Tour - notice how the coyote's body vanishes amongst the plants.
